Presentation of the A-Qu-A project in the Moste District Community

On Thursday, Oct 22nd 2015 during the morning hours, The A-Qu-A, Active and Quality Ageing in the home environment project was presented at the Moste District Community.

The project was presented by the promotor of the project – The Home Care institute as well as by representatives of the partners and external collaborators. They introduced occupational therapy, practical use of occupational therapy equipment, solutions for adapting homes to increase safety and independence of elderly people, a lecture on healthy eating and food preparation was also given. After the presentations refreshments were served and guests were entertained by “Bongo” choir and a violin quartet, both active within the Fužine Activity Centre (FAC).

Invitation to the event in the Koper ‘taverna’: Knowledge for health – how to live 100 healthy years

The A-Qu-A project will presented at the KNOWLEDGE FOR HEALTH event in Koper which is organized by the University of Primorska, the Science and research centre and the Izola General Hospital.

Many lectures will be held by experts on different areas who will be answering the question HOW TO LIVE 100 HEALTHY YEARS. During the lectures measurements will be conducted by the professionals form the GH Izola, the HC Koper and the UP ZRS which will be using the UP ZRS IKARUS mobile laboratory. Lilijana Batič, manager of the Home Care Institute, which is also the leading project partner, shall introduce the A-Qu-A project within the press conference

We will be measuring: blood sugar levels, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, body mass index, ankle-brachial index, pletismography, physical endurance, handgrip strength test, balance and other health indicators. Experts will express their opinion on the measurements’ results and will suggest suitable measures for preserving and strengthening your health!

Programme:

  • introduction of occupational therapy and practical demonstration of therapy equipment,
  • introducing solutions for adapting homes to increase safety and independence of elderly people,
  • introducing the importance of exercise for strength in the elderly age; a demonstration of the exercises and a demonstration for muscle self-assessment tests,
  • physical exercise,
  • tips on healthy eating and how to prepare food,
  • measuring blood pressure and sugar levels,
  • Fužine Acrivity Center: “Bongo” choir with a Violin Quartet.

 

After the presentation you will receive a small practical gift and refreshments will be served.

A-Qu-A project followed us on Rožnik

On the last Sunday of September (Sep 27th 2015) we traditionally celebrated the World Heart Day on Rožnik. Since we had the warm sunny day on our side many hikers joined us. They were happy to have their blood pressure, heart rate and saturation measured, some had their blood checked (sugar and cholesterol levels), they took the our magazine For the Heart with interest and listened to the recommendations of our professional team and to the introduction of the A-Qu-A project. They also took application forms.

Picture: The A-QU-A project was introduced on Rožnik as well, passing people had their blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels checked and received guidelines for a healthy lifestyle.

The A-Qu-A project was introduced to the public at the main event during the celebration of the World Heart Day on Prešeren square in Ljubljana.

The event took place in Ljubljana on Sep 26th and attracted many by people passing by Prešeren Square. Ljubljana’s mayor Zoran Janković and the Ministry of Health Sandra Tušar were the formal speakers. Free medical leaflets were handed out on stands, medical stuff offered useful information, many people had their blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar and triglycerides levels checked; people expressed a great deal of interest for measuring the ankle-brachial index. The performance of Ribič Pepe (Pepe the Fisherman) lifted up the spirits and many companies had stands where they introduced many interesting things, there was a lot of information on personal health protection.

The A-Qu-A was introduced at the stand of the Healthy heart and vascular system Association where leaflets of the project were handed out. Visitors who wished so received information about the significance and the benefits of the project in the Ljubljana City Municipality. Many people were interested, they took application forms for home counselling, namely for healthy eating and food preparation. We handed out approximately 100 application forms and even more leaflets about the A-Qu-A project – Active and quality ageing in the home environment.

Introducing the A-Qu-A project in the Dravlje District Community

On Wednesday, Oct 7th 2015 during the morning hours, The A-Qu-A, Active and Quality Ageing in the home environment project was presented at the Dravlje District Community.

The project was presented by the promotor of the project – The Home Care institute as well as by representatives of the partners and external collaborators. They introduced occupational therapy, practical use of occupational therapy equipment, new exercise approaches for dementia prevention, benefits of the Nordic walking breathing exercises. A lecture on healthy eating and food preparation was also given. After the presentations refreshments were served and guests were entertained by the members of the recreational dancing group DC Dravlje.

Sixteen more project presentations of this kind are scheduled till April 2016 since they will take place in each Ljubljana’s District Community.

A-Qu-A on the Third-Age Festival

Partners of the A-Qu-A contributed to the Third-Age Festival in Cankarjev dom between 29. 9. and 1. 10. 2015, by organizing workshops and presenting their activities in the project.

 

The following workshops were carried out:

  • consultations with an occupational therapist and a physiotherapist, introduction of various therapy equipment,
  • Nordic walking,
  • consultations with an occupational therapist and a physiotherapist, introduction of various occupational therapy equipment,
  • breathing exercise,
  • electrostimulation.

The workshops were held by:

  • Andrej Švent, international instructor for muscular electrical stimulation of the rehabilitation group DJO, lecturer of professional seminars for sports, education and health,
  • Martina Berk Čurlić, occupational therapist,
  • Tomaž Marzidovšek, physiotherapist.

Autumn meeting of the Šentvid District Community

On Saturday, 12th September 2015, the 4thAutumn meeting of the Šentvid District Community took place in Gunclje, where the Ljubljana City Municipality presented the Active and quality ageing in the home environment (A-Qu-A) project.

Visitors could learn basic information about the project at the MOL stand where they also received contact information needed if they wanted to be included in the project. In addition they were informed of upcoming round tables which will be held in the district communities. Visitors were informed about the counselling and presentations on the project, which will be held at this year’s Festival for the Third Life Period.

Every visitor of the stand also received an invitation for having their homes adapted to the needs of the elderly, which also included the application form for the adaptation and a brochure with basic information about the project.

Street festival ‘The right mix eliminates the stress’

The Active and quality ageing in the home environment (A-Qu-A) project was presented on the 22nd of September 2015 on the Street festival ‘The right mix eliminates the stress’ on the Eipporova and Kolodvorska Street in Ljubljana. The project offered two workshops:

  • occupational therapist advice and a presentation of various tools for occupational therapy and
  • Nordic walking.
